Hydroxyethylcellulose

INCI Name: Hydroxyethylcellulose

Purposes: Viscosity Control , Binding , Film Forming

Hydroxyethylcellulose (HEC) is a form of cellulose that has been chemically modified to have an alcohol group and additional carbon substitutions on the polymeric chain. These forms of cellulose are often used as thickeners, film-forming agents, or binders. Some versions, called polyquats, have nitrogen-containing quaternium ammonium ions substituted within the structure to provide additional properties to the formulation.
